Two-day Teachers Training Workshop was organized for teachers of College of Sharia and Islamic Sciences and Minhaj Women College from 3rd of July to 4th of July 2012. The Workshop started from 8 am and concluded at 4 p.m. Dr Obaidullah Ranjha, Principal of COSIS, presided over the Workshop while Dr Muhammad Asghar Javed, Vice Principal, conducted the proceedings during the two days.

The proceedings of the Workshop got underway with the recitation from the holy Quran by Qari Muhammad Ishtiaq Al-Azhari, where as Allama Ghulam Tahir presented the Naat in the honour of the Holy Prophet (SAW).

Dr Muhammad Asghar Javed threw light on the aims and objectives of the Workshop. He then invited Mrs. Farah Naz, Principal of Minhaj Women College, to say introductory words to the participants.

Mrs. Naz, in her beautiful style, described the aims of the Workshop and stressed the need of teachers’ training in the light of educational vision of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. She said that the training empowered the teaching community to cater to all-important responsibility of imparting education to the students who were the architects of this great nation. She said that we, the teachers, could discharge our responsibilities in a befitting manner if we employed sincerity, dedication and professionalism.

Principal of COSIS Dr Obaidullah Ranjha said in his remarks on the occasion said that the teachers would have to focus on the use of modern teaching facilities such as multimedia etc. to improve their teaching. He said that they also needed to expand the horizon of their studies besides focusing on the grooming of the students in accord with modern demands of market.

The Principal’s talk was followed by a brief speech of Dr Zahoorullah Al-Azhari on time table and syllabus.

Emphasizing the need and importance of interfaith dialogue, Dr Naeem Mushtaq said that MQI was leading this effort from the forefront and Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was projecting the real teachings of Islam in the world. He said that teachers had huge responsibilities on their Shoulders to carry forward this legacy of peace and enlightenment and it was possible if they used most modern means of communication and teaching.

Speaking on the topic of students’ intellectual growth and need of contacts with their parents, Allama Muhammad Ilyas Azami said that the sustained contact with parents was direly needed to encourage the students to improve their performance. He said that combined efforts of teachers and parents could give enhanced output.

Dr Tahir Hameed Tanoli, Director of Iqbal Academy, gave a meaty talk on the subject of the Holy Quran and Teacher. Dr Naeem Mushtaq held forth on the personality development of students in his lecture on the second day of Workshop. He said that teachers had huge influence on their students and could play facilitating role in shaping up their personalities.

In his concluding speech, the Principal of COSIS underlined the need of collaborative efforts of both colleges to improve their working. He said that syllabi and training matters needed to be coordinated for better output.

Mrs. Humaira, Syed Ali Hussain Rizvi, Vice Principals of their respective Colleges, Abdur Rehman Saddiqi and Farooq Rana, Deputy Director of FMRi played a leading role in the successful conduct of the Workshop.

The Workshop ended on Dua for peace, tranquility, good health and long life of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
